| Wanna survive? Take up a hobby! (Makin’ movies.)The story of a strange hobby Having purchased a new camera, most people film anything waiting for something to happen, and hoping to send it to „Americas funniest home video”.
We have decided to do something else. It all started when we made a video clip. It was a funny version of a song written by Bon Jovi ”It’s my life”. We changed it into “It’s my iron”. The idea was simple. We just turned the camera and the music on and our friend started to dance with an iron while ironing. It came out to be a masterpiece. Everybody who has seen it has had a real laugh, therefore we decided to make more clips.
We started making sketches inspired by “Monthy Python” in Great Britain and “The Saturday Night live show” in the U.S.A.. In other words, jokes which are not too difficult to understand, not too long but short and funny. Such things as dancing to disco music were made to show in a funny way the problem of the Polish democracy. The film was called “Mr. Prez” and you only see in it a stupid MP dancing with a suitcase, which meant that he is corrupted and not too serious about his role in the parliament. Another film about a Canadian Dictator in “CANADA” was a joke that Canada has won a war with Poland and is now starting an occupation of it. The Dictator is making a TV speech to the occupied people of Poland. Canada in this film is changed from a democratic country to a land of the one and mighty “Dictator”. Combined with Canada’s culture it comes out very funny. Films like these were normal for us. And sometimes it even came out to be hilarious.
During the winter break, we got together with a group of people in order to make a full screen motion picture with music, dialogues, and costumes, which we found in our wardrobes. The movie was called “Mafios” and it was a comedy version of the American TV series “the Sopranos” The idea of the film was simple: four youngsters with no perspective form a gang. Everything would live in a Francis Ford Coppola or Martin Scorsese film, except for one thing: the gangsters don’t really know how to form a Mafia. Instead of learning the secret techniques of ruling and forming a Mafia, they buy cheap suits and run around acting like gangsters. The strong side of the film is the beginning with music, pictures and special effects. The rest of the movie is nothing special. Yet we have come to a conclusion that this is our first film and the beginnings are always the worst.
We do not only make comedies, but psychological thrillers like: “Red line” It’s a short feature film without dialogues which tries to show teenager’s stress before his final exam at high school. It contains psychodelic music and the whole film lasts about 3 minutes and was filmed in less than half an hour however most people claim it to be the best film ever made by us. It’s a serious film, which shocks the viewer by its atmosphere and surprising ending. Future plans Become rich and famous!!! This is of course not all. We have a few more ideas to make other movies like “DEMOTURAT” written by Maciej Kostyra and performed by our school, and perhaps send it with our other productions to an amateur film festival or just make them for people who would like to see them.
What do we use Our main equipment is Sony ccd/trv/67 camera with no extra features,
