Places worth visiting

FORT nr. 8

also called Fort Służew. It was built in the 19th century. It lies between the Wisła valley and the Służewiecki stream in the north part of Ursynów.

St. KATRINA CHURCH

Conservators take special care of a couple of remains such as the church, the church bell and Służew cemetery. The cemetery was set up in the 13th century. What remained are only single graves from the 19th century. In the area of the cemetery we can also find various kinds of old trees like oaks, limes and maples. The trees are in very good biological condition. In the nearest neighbourhood there are trees treated as nature monuments.

JULIAN URSYN NIEMCEWICZ PARK

Its first name was : Rozkosz (delight) and it was    the last element of Royal Palace Wilanów sub-residences. In the 18th century it belonged to princess Izabela Lubomirska.

In 1822 Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz bought it and changed its name into Ursynów. Last owners of this  land - the Krasińscy family donated it to charity.

BOTANICAL GARDENS IN POWSIN (Ogród Botaniczny)

It is one of the biggest botanical garden in Poland. It has 180 hectares in which we can include many exhibitions and collections of various kinds of plants. It was set up in 1974 as science and testing station of PAN (Polish Science Society). Since 1990 it has opened for visitors. While visiting the garden we can not only admire its beautiful landscape but also learn something about serious threats to environment like air and water pollution. The garden employees can give advice on how to care about your own plants or even how to plan your own garden.

KABACKI FOREST (Las Kabacki)

- beautiful terrain where you can go for a small trip. It can be your own meeting place  with the nature. Take a bicycle ride through the forest to Park Kultury in Powsin. There is always something to do there and, if you are thirsty,  free mineral water from the local source to drink.

HILL OF THREE TOPS

100 meters away from our school in Kazury Street there is a pretty big hill. It is called Monte Kazury, Kazoorowka or Hill of Three Tops. People from all over Warsaw are coming here to get a little bit of adrenaline doing extreme sports. There is a 4cross route: a big amount of jumps are included; at the end there is a big funbox.

In summer you can find bikers with dual, free-ride, downhill or bmx bikes breaking bones everywhere.

In winter there is a straight jump for snowboarders.

If you don't do extreme sports you can just go there, and take in an inspiring view of Ursynow and Kabacki Forest from the top. It is worth checking out.

CULTURE CLUBS

In many Ursynow’s living estates or districts such as Natolin, Imielin or Stokłosy there are centers called culture clubs. There are many concerts of music, a lot of activities for children, exhibitions of modern art etc...

MULTIKINO, BASKETBALL, CYCLING – you name it

If you would like to spend your free time doing something fun, you can go to Multikino - our cinema complex where all kind of films are on. For people who like sports Ursynów has a few proposals. For example you can play football or basketball on one of many open air playgrounds and pitches. You can also ride a bike along many bicycle paths (see the map below).
