| Our enemy: stress and panic
Sometimes in your life there is trouble which makes you nervous or strained. Then you are upset, your heart beats harder, your muscles are tight and breath is faster. That kind of reaction appears in many difficult situations like exam or competition. This is a stress reaction. Of course you can learn how to deal with your stress. You also have to remember that stress can be your ally. Here is some practical advice I tested on myself. 1. If you prepare for an exam, try to learn by heart all necessary information, otherwise other techniques of dealing with stress won’t help. 2. Second very important thing is thinking positively. 3. Find out everything about the place where you will write the exam. This will help you prepare mentally for that day. 4. Keep fit – that really helps. 5. When you feel nervous, stop your work for a moment and take 10 deep breaths or sit very comfortably. Close your eyes and let your muscles relax. 6. Remember about taking a rest before it. 7. During the exam concentrate on questions and your knowledge. Don’t think if you pass or not... In most cases it is not knowledge that decides about success or failure, but self-confidence. Do your best before the exam and believe in yourself. Everything else will be OK. I guarantee. If you have any other ideas how to fight with stress, write to us! Author: Aleksandra Wasiluk 1a
