| Environment friendly placeNature of Ursynow Ursynow is situated in the Warsaw plain. It has a very rich and picturesque landscape, with many small hills and numerous valleys. Many different plants can be found here which makes this area very well distinguished from other regions of Warsaw. Very specific for Ursynow are areas close to the old Vistula river bank hills. This place is well-know for its beautiful views onto the river plain. One can find there many old trees with some of them particularly protected due to their size or age.
The blocks among the trees In the south of Ursynow there is a big woodland which makes the local climate very healthy and advantageous for the environment preservation. Areas placed in the south of old Warsaw have always been famous for their good climate. We can see that today. Ursynow has the least polluted air among all of the Warsaw areas. One of the most beautiful and very often visited by the City of Warsaw habitants area is the Kabacki Forest – this woodland has 902 ha of area and is the biggest in the city. In 1980 it has been declared as the environmentally protected wood. This region is rather flat with some wavy areas. However, due to some intensive erosion processes many deep valleys can be found there. The Kabacki forest is the only mixed wood placed so close to the Warsaw city. In this Preservation area one can find almost all species of trees growing in other regions of Poland: pine, fir, oak, maple, beech, silver birch, larch, aspen, linden. The most precious are pine tree woods mixed in some areas with larches and oak trees, all aged around 130 years. Particularly preserved tree is the old oak tree called Mieszko I (after the first duke of Poland), which can be found by Nowoursynowska Street. On the south of the Kabacki forest there is the culture-sport park in Powsin. There are 19 sport grounds of different size and in the valley there is an open-air theater. In the North-East part one can find the camping site with a swimming pool and walking footpaths.
The Botanic Garden PAN in Powsin The Botanic Garden, situated South of Powsin, is considered to be a beautiful and popular place to visit. It has been established in 1974 and covers 40 ha of area. There are few old trees, but up to 7000 other plant species can be found there. The next interesting nature spot in Ursynow is the Imielinskie Lake originating from the ice-age times. Its surroundings are inhabited by different species of waterfowl, many of them particularly protected. The situation of Ursynow among Warsaw suburbs and its nature and environment richness makes this borough important for the nature of the whole region. Conservation and the quality of life here make it possible to call Ursynów an environment friendly place.
